To supervise employees providing laboratory services during the second and third shifts. To provide laboratory services during the second and third shifts. Perform the work detailed in the job descriptions of the staff supervised. Supervise staff so each one meets their job standards. Train new personnel to meet their job standards. Determine that work on the second and third shifts is done according to the established deadlines. Maintain the work environment so work can be done according to the established deadlines and standards. Assess the reasonableness of work to be done by the staff. Determine innovative ways to improve work done and services provided by the staff. Implement new systems and equipment to improve work done and service provided by the staff. Coordinate work on the second and third shift with each first shift Section Supervisor to insure uniformity and continuity of work flow. Ensure a technologist in charge supervises work and resolves problems during the supervisor's absence. Be cost conscious and promote cost awareness among supervised employees. To meet requirements as set forth by accrediting agencies. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a professional manner in order to project a positive image of the laboratory and the hospital. Works with the laboratory staff, nursing staff, medical staff, visitors and patients in a professional manner. Works with manufacturer and sales representatives in a professional manner. Conducts all contacts in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner designed to provide good customer service. Answers the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance as appropriate to callers or in face to face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations of the internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify areas of concern and to recommend appropriate solutions.
Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities)
USA or equivalent BS degree preferred. MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred. Five years of technical experience and two years of supervisory experience preferred. Basic computer skills required.
Current State of Florida Supervisor license in Hematology, Chemistry and Blood Bank, Microbiology or Serology (or eligible) is required. Prefer current supervisor license in all areas.
