JOB SUMMARY: Under direction of the department director and manager, performs cardiac diagnostic procedures including transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), and stress echocardiography. Ensures patient safety, clinical quality, and service excellence are performed and reports are properly forwarded to cardiologist reading station and charges are done on a daily basis. Responsible for the clinical oversight of echocardiography technologists, image quality, MD reporting process, and process improvement reporting of MD reading data. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assesses patient data, formulates plan of intervention, and implements patient care plan. Uses ultrasound to perform a variety of echocardiographic procedures according to prescribed guidelines and approved protocols, including 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, TEE, TTE, stress echocardiography, and exercise stress testing. Evaluates and calculates echocardiogram raw data and scores, calculates the raw data, and presents it in an appropriate manner. Documents interventions and patient responses. Monitors patient documentation for accuracy and timely completion. Supervises Echocardiography Technologists. Performs department-specific orientation, onboarding, training and coaching. Provides input into the selection, performance evaluation, and corrective action of employees. Responsible for daily staffing and making appropriate decisions based on patient volume, needs, and skill level of employees. Develop staff schedules. Monitors, maintains and promotes patient safety, quality images and delivery of excellent patient care, services and experiences. Oversees equipment operations, maintenance, surveys and quality control activities to ensure regulatory compliance and equipment performance. Facilitates required departmental adjustments to ensure productivity and cost effective delivery of quality care and services. Monitors and maintains department-specific inventory and resources to ensure availability, compliance and cost effectiveness. Develops and maintains imaging protocols, core competencies, and annual requirements. Works with Medical Director, medical staff, and technical staff to ensure quality patient care. Responsible for compliance of all IAC guidelines outlined in the certification process. Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION Required: Registry eligible and BLS Preferred: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) EDUCATION Required: Graduate of an accredited school of echocardiography or ultrasound Preferred: Associates degree WORK EXPERIENCE Required: Three (3) years of clinical experience as a cardiac sonographer Preferred: Two (2) years of supervisory experience as a cardiac sonographer #LI-AR1 Job: Cardio/Cardiovascular Primary Location: Tucson, Arizona Facility: Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital Job Type: Full-time Shift Type: Days
