Cape Fear Retinal Associates, PC is a specialty group ophthalmology practice located in beautiful Wilmington, NC. We are currently in search of an experienced Ophthalmic Technician with a proven experience in retina/vitreous, or a strong anterior segment track record.
Primary accountabilities would include:
Provide technical ophthalmic and administrative assistance to the ophthalmic medical staff. The Ophthalmic Tech is the central point for coordinating patient care/patient flow within our practice.
Obtain a complete medical and ophthalmic history.
Perform OCT imaging.
Perform fundus photography.
Perform applanation tonometry.
Perform/learn fluorescein angiographies.
Assist the physicians with minor surgery and ocular injections.
Administer ocular medications as directed by the ophthalmologist.
Explain the physician's orders.
Complete certification to perform Scribe duties.
Perform any other administrative duties as may be deemed necessary.
Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, basic ocular anatomy and visual pathologies.
Knowledge of common ophthalmic medication.
Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and sterilization techniques.
Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring visual acuity and applanation tonometry.
Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy workload.
Ability to work as a team member in an ophthalmic office setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize activities with conflicting deadlines.
Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient testing equipment.
Responsible, with ability to work in a detailed oriented manner.
Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment.
Ability to learn electronic medical records software. Experience with EMA/Modernizing Medicine strongly preferred.
